Frequently asked questions

What qualifications do you have?

I am a degree-qualified natural medicine practitioner and clinical nutritionist.

My qualifications include:

Bachelor of Health Science with a major in Nutritional Medicine

Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine

Bachelor of Business  with a major in Marketing

I am also an accredited member of the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS), the largest professional association in Australia for practitioners of natural medicine.

The natural medicine and nutrition professions are unregulated and therefore people with varying levels of education can call themselves natural medicine practitioners and nutritionists. It’s wise to check the qualifications of any health professional you are considering seeing. In addition, you should check that your chosen practitioner is an accredited member of a professional association. Membership of such an association requires the practitioner to undertake ongoing professional education, abide by a strict code of conduct, and maintain appropriate insurances.

Are your treatments evidence based?

Yes, all my treatment plans are evidence based. I am trained in finding and reviewing scientific studies, assessing their quality, extracting relevant information and applying the learnings to clinical practice. I also engage in ongoing professional education to keep up to date with new findings and emerging evidence in the nutrition and health fields.

Can I get a Medicare or private health fund rebate?

Natural medicine and nutrition consultations are not covered by Medicare. Currently, all Kaleidoscope Wellbeing consultations are being conducted online. Private health funds do not provide rebates for online consultations.

How many consultations will I need / how long will treatment take?

This is difficult to answer, as it depends on your current health, your objectives and the recommended treatment, however, every client will require a minimum of four consultations, including:

  • Initial Consultation: Information Gathering, Research and Report and Treatment Plan Development
  • Second Consultation: Presentation of Report of Findings and Treatment Plan
  • 2 x Follow-up Consultations

You will get started on your treatment after your Second Consultation, and I will monitor your progress and adjust your treatment in your Follow-up Consultations. Depending on your progress, you may need additional Follow-up Consultations. Many of my clients find it supportive to continue to see me over the medium to long term, as it keeps them accountable as they continue to learn and apply positive changes in their lives.

I invite you to read about my approach and consultation model in detail here.

Why can't I book a single consultation?

There are a couple of reasons.

Your Initial Consultation is all about detailed information gathering so that I can develop a 360° understanding of you. Following your Initial Consultation, I develop your Report of Findings and Treatment Plan and these are presented to you and discussed in your Second Consultation. You will start implementing your treatment after your Second Consultation. The two Follow-up Consultations are for me to help, guide and support you in implementing your treatment. We will also fine-tune your treatment in these consultations. These four consultations will take place over approximately 5-6 weeks.

In my experience of helping clients, anything less than four consultations does not provide optimal results. It takes time to make positive changes to diet and lifestyle habits and see treatment results. It also takes commitment. By committing to four consultations, you’re signalling to yourself – and me – that you’re serious about your health and willing to do what’s necessary to get results.

You can read in detail about my approach and what my consultations include here.
